  • Rene Herse: 29″ x 2.2″ (700c x 55) Fleecer Ridge TC Tyre

    , ,
The ultimate tyre for bike-packing and gravel adventures – and recipient of Bikepacking.com’s coveted ‘Gear of the Year’ award for the ‘Best New Component.’ Developed together with bike-packing legend Lael Wilcox, the Fleecer Ridge measures 29″ x 2.2″ (or 700C x 55 mm), making it a perfect fit for bike-packing bikes. We name our tyres after the passes that inspire them: Fleecer Ridge is the toughest climb on the incredible Tour Divide that traverses the Rocky Mountains from Canada to the Mexican border. On a ride that long, you’ll need a tyre that can handle a huge range of conditions, from deep snow and mud via fast gravel to pavement as you descend into towns to resupply. The Fleecer Ridge grips like a knobby when conditions get tough. On pavement, it rolls like a slick tyre thanks to its large and strategically placed knobs that don’t squirm and always put the same amount of rubber on the road. The Fleecer Ridge is the world’s first bicycle tyre with noise cancellation: The staggered tread blocks create overlapping noise frequencies that partially cancel each other. This feature is so revolutionary that we’ve patented it. The Standard casing is our more affordable option: comfortable and fast, yet also strong to withstand considerable abuse. The Extralight casing takes the performance, comfort and feel of your bike to an entirely new level. The Endurance casing is reinforced for extra sidewall protection and puncture resistance, while retaining the speed and comfort for which Rene Herse tyres are famous. The Endurance Plus casing provides the ultimate in sidewall protection for extremely tough conditions. The Fleecer Ridge is tubeless-compatible. For tubeless setup, we recommend SealSmart sealant. When used with tubes, we recommend the SV19 or SV19A tubes. Made in Japan.

Rene Herse: 700c x 48 Oracle Ridge TC Tyre

    , ,
A road-centric knobby? A dirt-ready road tyre? You decide! At 48 mm wide, the Oracle Ridge hits the sweet spot between narrow gravel tyre (38 mm) and mountain bike volume (55 mm) – ideal for the latest generation of gravel and all-road bikes. We’ve developed the Oracle Ridge together with bikepacking legend Lael Wilcox, and we’ve named it after one of Lael’s favorite routes: Oracle Ridge is a beautiful gravel climb outside Tucson, AZ, which connects to the backside of Mount Lemmon for an ultra-fast descent on pavement. On the gravel climb, this tyre grips tenaciously thanks to its large and widely spaced knobs. On the descent, it corners like a slick thanks to its large and strategically placed knobs that don’t squirm and always put the same amount of rubber on the road. The Oracle Ridge features our patented noise cancellation technology: The staggered tread blocks create overlapping noise frequencies that partially cancel each other. The Oracle Ridge’s speed, grip and lack of noise make you forget you’re riding a knobby – until you hit some loose or muddy ground and appreciate the extra grip. The Oracle Ridge is tubeless-compatible. For tubeless setup, we recommend SealSmart sealant. When used with tubes, we recommend the SV19 or SV19A tubes. Made in Japan.

  • Rene Herse: 650B x 48 Juniper Ridge TC Tyre

    , ,
The ultimate 650B adventure tyre is designed for rides where you don’t know what lies ahead. Juniper Ridge is a rough trail on the Dark Divide in the centre of the Cascade Mountains. To reach this remote destination, you want a fast tyre that gets you there. When you’re actually climbing Juniper Ridge, you need excellent grip and ample volume to cope with the rugged nature of this trail. The Juniper Ridge’s large knobs don’t squirm and offer excellent performance and cornering on paved roads, yet they are spaced widely to dig into the surface when it gets slippery. The tread self-cleans as the tyre rotates. You have to ride these tyres to believe how fast they roll and how well they corner! The Juniper Ridge is tubeless-compatible. For tubeless setup, we recommend SealSmart sealant. When used with tubes, we recommend the SV13 or SV14A tubes. Made in Japan.

  • Rene Herse: 650B x 42 Pumpkin Ridge TC Tire

    , ,
The ultimate dual-purpose tyre offers excellent performance and cornering on paved roads, yet its large knobs dig into the surface when it gets slippery. We distributed the knobs so that the tyre always is supported by the same amount of rubber, whether it’s rolling forward or leaning into a turn. This gives you uniform grip at all times – whether on a muddy cyclocross course or during a paved descent with ultra-fast hairpin turns. We name our tyres after the passes in the Cascade Mountains that inspire them: Pumpkin Ridge near Portland, Oregon, has a number of promising dirt spurs heading toward the Tualatin Mountains. Past explorations failed to reveal a connection, because we bogged down in mud. The Pumpkin Ridge tyres excel both on the paved approach and on the muddy trails up the ridge. The Standard casing is our more affordable option: comfortable and fast, yet also strong to withstand considerable abuse. The Extralight casing takes the performance, comfort and feel of your bike to an entirely new level. The Pumpkin Ridge is tubeless-compatible. For tubeless setup, we recommend SealSmart sealant. When used with tubes, we recommend the SV12 or SV14A tubes. Made in Japan.

Rene Herse: The All-Road Bike Revolution Book

    ,
Modern all-road and gravel bikes combine the best of very different types of bike in a single machine. Properties that a few years ago seemed reserved exclusively for racing bikes, touring bikes or mountain bikes can now be combined in one “bike for everything”: high comfort and excellent performance. Speed on smooth asphalt and rough gravel roads. A lively driving experience and the possibility of transporting luggage. A handling that is characterised by directional stability, and yet lends itself agile in the curves when winding downhill passages have to be mastered. In short: a really good bike can do almost anything today. This book explains clearly and practically how and why these new bikes work and what to look out for when choosing frames and components. Author Jan Heine himself played a major role in getting the all-road bike revolution off the ground. As the editor of the influential "Bicycle Quarterly" magazine, he has exposed numerous supposed wisdoms about bicycles as popular misconceptions in recent years. In this book he now shares his collected findings. This makes “One bike for everything” compulsory reading for anyone who is even a little interested in bicycle technology, and a profitable decision-making aid for everyone who is considering buying a bike or parts.
